Based on the vessels design and function, bilge water may contain water, oil, particles, and other materials. As it is, our aquatic areas are heavily polluted unnecessarily and its everyones responsibility to protect it for generations to come.
Oil and fuel contain harmful materials that could affect human health and greatly damage our marine environment (including very small amounts). Only a single pint of oil leaked into the water will cover 1 acre of a bay, harming drinking water and the aquatic ecosystem.

The post office for the area was established in 1859 as “Meritt”, and discontinued in 1860. It was reestablished and ran between 1870 and 1873 as “Merritt”. It was named after Hiram P. Merritt who came to Yolo County before 1866. In the late 19th century, Merritt was a shipment point on the railroad for cattle to market.
